\nGluconolattone is a poly hydroxy acid. It has a strong long-term hygroscopic and hydrating effect due to the presence of many hydroxylating compounds. \nCombining these two enhances their mutual effects, which are: Antioxidant: counteracts oxidisation processes and therefore the production of highly damaging substances.
